One thing about the FoodServiceDirect.com team, we eat. Here's where we loved to go lately, COVID dining tested and approve.
NYC, known for having one of the best dining scenes and a foodie’s dream come true. If you've lived in NYC your entire life, there's a good chance you know NYC rarely disappoints when it comes to a great meal. The same holds true, even during a pandemic.
The restaurant industry has been hard hit by COVID. Businesses have had to scramble to meet requirements to re-open; this means limited staff, limited produce and menu, and all while operating under increasingly stressful regulations.
But that doesn’t mean guests can’t still have a fantastic meal at a great restaurant where you get tons of Instagram photos and give all your friends (and non-friends) FOMO. These 3 restaurants will remind you why NYC is known for the best restaurant scene and give you a night to remember – because let’s face, the food is only part of the experience of dining out.
1. Oxomoco
The team at Oxomoco really leveled up the idea of taco Tuesday. At this Michelin star restaurant, you’ll feast on authentic Mexican cuisine and artisanal margaritas in the gorgeous open-air, foliage-filled space. Though the menu is now limited, everything is done exceptionally well. Our favorites include the guacamole (one of the best we’ve ever had!), the tuna tostada, steak tacos, and spicy mango margaritas.
2. Catch Steak
Catch Steak is not your finance bros stuffy steakhouse or one of those "trendy" ones that shall not be named, where one might suspect clearance supermarket steak is being passed off as quality meat. Finally, a modern, fun steakhouse with great food that will please steak eaters and non-steak eaters alike. Favorites here include the oysters with a delicious jalapeno-lime mignonette, Japanese wagyu tasting, the spicy Gigli, and the blue cheese creamed spinach which will have you finishing all your vegetables and salivating for more.
3. Don Angie
Reservations here are hard to come by and one bite of their famous lasagna for two will have you understanding why. Don Angie is the perfect choice for all occasions, whether your in-laws are visiting from out of town, your much-needed girls' night out, or a romantic dinner with your partner. The space is small, dimly lit, and exudes coolness without being stuffy or pretentious. Famous for their lasagna for two ( which actually feeds four or makes for delicious leftovers) and their chrysanthemum salad which is more a bed of parmesan cheese than salad, the food here will have you smiling from ear to ear and definitely requires you wear your eating pants to dinner (an waist band will save you). Our team's favorites include the aforementioned dishes, the bbq calamari, and pepperoni fried rice, and Japanese sweet potatoes. Their take on the margarita is also incredibly impressive, delicious, and very Instagram worthy!
